A core mission of the National EMS Academy is to provide quality educational programs that allow individuals to begin or enhance their career in emergency medical services. The EMT and paramedic programs at NEMSA meet or exceed all state and national standards for education programs. Additionally, the paramedic program is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Students enjoy the benefits of an academically rigorous program of study, access to simulation laboratories to develop skills and hands-on clinical experience at local hospitals and with Acadian Ambulance, a nationally recognized leader in the ambulance industry.

Students completing a NEMSA training program are eligible to sit for the National Registry of EMT’s (NREMT) certification examination. Our pass rate on the national examination exceeds the national average as published by the NREMT.

EMT-Basic is the entry-level position in the emergency medical services field. In just a few months, you can learn the skills you will need to work as part of a medical response team. Paramedics are trained in all aspects of pre-hospital emergency care. During a medical transport, the paramedic is responsible for the safety and well-being of the patient.
